Everyday learning

I am a firm believer in the old adage that you learn something new everyday. Sometimes simple, other times profound. Lately I have learnt that;

tomato jam is the new must have condiment in our house
you don't have to be good at everything
toddlers will argue about most things
Cashmere comes from the soft undercoat of the Kashmir goat
frozen cherry tomatoes are handy for using in a curry when there are no ripe tomatoes
two baby teeth are more capable than you would think
people would often rather be right than happy
look for the positive
a bad morning doesn't necessarily mean a bad day
a heartbeat noise emanating from the rear of the car may be a screw in your tyre

Tomato jam- i'm yet to try this one. What do you eat it with?

    1. Hi Zara,
Yes, she loves Mama's beads. We've been eating the jam in place of tomato sauce on everything from pies to chicken burgers to toast. Yum!

  2. I too believe in that adage. I love learning new things. I love remembering them 6 months down the track too. I'm such a dag, whenever I get something right after learning about it, I feel so "clever". Ha ha, it's the small things.
Tomato jam sounds delicious. Did you make it? Will you share the recipe?
Toddlers!!! I feel your pain. H: Mama not go inside. K: I'm going inside. H: Mama NOT go inside!!! K: I'm going inside!!!! Repeat negative for everything.
Killing me here. Breathe. Aaaahh. Hooray for bedtime I say.
Those frozen tomatoes were a good idea.
I'd rather be happy and I try every day to see the positive. I think the key is to surround yourself with positive people. Sometimes I'm so negative and then I hear myself and go "Shush woman! Cheer the F up!" That usually snaps me out of it.;)
That's no good about the screw. One of our cars is out the front as I type with two punctures. That's Sam's job for the weekend.
    Ehum... sorry about the essay.
    Have a great weekend. x

    1. Tomato jam on chicken burgers, on pie, on toast, instead of tomato sauce, nom nom nom! http://www.foodinjars.com/2010/09/tomato-jam/ I used this recipe and used a mix of Roma, cherry and Black Russian tomatoes. Makes a great gift too. :)

  3. "go to the positive" has been my mantra of late. When I am stressed it is so easy to look at all the negatives and miss all the wonderful positives. I've also been trying to not jump to negative conclusions, but think things through more and consider other people's perspectives :)

  5. What a fantastic green flower! Love the garland, the photo of Emerson and the apples too. I bought myself one green granny smith this morning from our green grocers, just 'cos it looked so fresh and delicious. It made a refreshing morning tea treat!

  7. I never knew that about cashmere either until I went to the local show! I love how Emerson is in your beads (I also have a determined bead wearing toddler, hence why most of my jewelry is now broken!) and I think I recognize that little dress :) Tomato jam - must look into that if my 2nd :( lot of tomatoes is a success this year.
