- positive news at my check up at the eye clinic
- a small area of focus in my vision
- friends and family who have taken over the reins of cooking, cleaning and child wrangling while I recover from surgery
- happy yellow flowers on my table from a friend
- towels straight off the line, still warm, and so fresh smelling
- how a shower can make you feel better
- babies laughter - arguably the best sound in the world
- audio books of 'Cloud Atlas', 'The Great Gatsby', 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' and 'The Happiness Project'
- the entertainment afforded by a four year old's imagination
- garter stitch - as soon as I had approval from the specialist I cast on my next project, with 7mm needles and 10 ply wool, which I can work on for short periods of time before my eye tires
- so, so very grateful that my friends and family are safe after the floods that Queensland experienced again recently

Hoping you are all safe and well, dear readers, with much to be grateful for too.
I'd love for you to share something you are grateful for in the comments.

  2. Glad your eye is improving. I had a retinal detachment in the same way as you about 3 years ago. I had to visit 4 hospitals across South Wales (UK) before getting it repaired and re-attached, but they did a wonderful job! Took a while before vision was restored but apart from a cataract in that eye, no problems. Vision is not as good as before due to some scarring, but nothing to complain about. Take care, and keep knitting.......

  4. You can't keep a crafty woman down! The bunting is lovely. I am feeling very grateful for my little family, my bigger family of brothers and sisters and for my mum and dad - we are celebrating my dad's 65th birthday this weekend. He was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer a few months ago so it's going to be a special celebration. There are going to be 140 people from dad's life. I am in the midst of writing him a poem which I will read. I can't wait. Rest up and enjoy being looked after! Suz

  6. Hi Christina, so happy you got positive news and it sounds like your recovery is going well. And how wonderful that you have so much help! My beloved dog, Hubbell, had surgery on Tuesday to have his right eye removed. I'm now Mom to a blind, one-eyed dog and I've never loved him more. That's what I'm grateful for today! XOXO

  11. I'm so pleased to hear that your eye is starting to get better!
Babies laughter IS the best sound, as are the sweet voices of small children playing...one of the things I loved best when I used to babysit a pair of toddlers.

I am grateful for so many things at the moment. I guess I am most grateful that we received rain, but that we were never in danger of flooding as they were down south.
We've also been nursing a sick cow for the last 6 days, and yesterday morning she finally "turned the corner" and began to recover....and I am SO grateful for that!

Have a good weekend, it's great that you've got so much support around you while you're recovering!

  12. My 4 year old's imagination fed me the line that "imaginary Daddy who sits in the loungeroom told me I could do it" yesterday.....(Points for creativity I guess! ). Glad to hear they eye's on the mend slowly and I hope your recovery is really swift from now on. x
