Yarn Along

Yarn Along

I have been adding rows to this stripey blanket when time allows. I'm at that point where it doesn't feel like it is growing, in spite of the many stitches I have added lately. My logical brain says it will be finished soon. However, my eyes insist that the ball of wool hasn't been getting any smaller, despite my best efforts. A knitting black hole perhaps?

In terms of reading I am more than half way through Life of Pi for book club. I am reserving my judgments until I have read further. The reading material above was waiting with our mail upon our return from camping. A flick through Country Style always gives me the itch to rearrange the furniture and nick knacks in the house, browse the aisles of ebay for a vintage treasure, or else book myself in to a B&B in some far away country town. Those urges have been lessened this month as we have (finally) purchased curtains for the lounge and master bedroom, as well as a ceiling light and two rugs. I am pouring over the pages though as we plan our kitchen. Those two beautiful books were won in a giveaway hosted by the lovely Jodie at Ric Rac. They are very sweet looking books and I must admit I've not read I can jump puddles. I believe it is next on my list.

And you? What are you reading and knitting?

  1. atm I am crocheting a granny square blanket as I don't knit. Yesterday in the mail I received the new diggers catalogue so that is my current reading material.

  4. I was only this morning contemplating the start of a knitting project. I still have the cardigan that I started for myself last year to complete...only have the hem to do and I have really gone off the style now so the dilemma is whether to unravel and start something new or continue on. Maybe a winter knit for Kaizer who is the only one of our five who tolerate woollens.
Just purchased the latest issue of Country Style this week but am yet to read the last two issues, a reading marathon might be needed with lots of tea :)

I love the solid blocks of colour in that blanket Christina..I am sure you will have it finished soon enough.

  6. I have just spent $70 on magazines today! Nearly died!! Mollie Makes, The Simple Things (adore!), and a new one for me called Making. Plus me for every other family member. Have started reading The Mountain set in PNG by Drusilla Modjeska (Australian author). And am knitting another pair of socks - have knitted 3 socks in a month! Nice and easy in the heat. Oh and made around 9 knitted dishcloths using the lovely "Down to Earth" pattern. Those are addictive!! Will cast on another couple tonight for a long road trip. And I have also started my annual summer big cross stitch - this one is all things kiwiana

  11. Though it may be slow going it is a beautiful blanket and one you will be able to appreciate for many years. I too bought the latest Country Style and read it from cover to cover while "in exile" at my parents. It's a good one. Made me want to look for an old caravan to renovate! I'd spied those classic Australian novels with the re-vamped covers and quite liked the look of them. I haven't read those ones, but I had read Seven Little Australians and Playing Beattie Bow many years ago.

  13. I love the colours you've used for your blanket. A big project but I'm sure it'll be completely worth it when it's all done.
